Call to Mission in Kaltenleutgeben: When God Calls Hearts
Hello dear friends,
Behind us lies a weekend that will resonate within me for a long time to come. From Friday to Palm Sunday, we as the European Mission Campus (EMC) hosted our "Call to Mission" weekend in Kaltenleutgeben. It was a time filled with a spirit of new beginnings, deep prayers, and very practical neighborly love.
Serving in Secret
My weekend began with picking up the first participants from the airport—a wonderful opportunity for initial conversations and a warm welcome.
On site, my service often looked very grounded: after meals, I was responsible for the dishes alongside a rotating team of participants. It might sound mundane, but it's often right there at the kitchen sink where the deepest community is built. At the same time, I was active behind the camera, capturing moments for Instagram and working closely with our video editor to document the excitement of the weekend digitally.
A God Who Prepares
The spiritual program was dense and powerful—ranging from workshops on missional identity to the solemn closing Mass on Palm Sunday. I was particularly touched by the Intercession for Mission on Saturday evening in the adoration chapel.
It was overwhelming to see how God calls people. I could feel that He is preparing many hearts to renew the Church in Europe from the inside out. We are not alone on this journey; a new generation is emerging, ready to say "Yes."
From Mission to Fatherhood: Saint Joseph as a Role Model
A deeply personal highlight was meeting a family and their two young children. Playing and interacting with them sparked a deep sense of gratitude in me. It reminded me that God has also placed the desire in my heart to become a father myself one day.
Saint Joseph has become a great role model for me in this regard—someone who gave himself selflessly without seeking the spotlight. Right now, God is calling me to invest this devotion fully in the mission and the EMC. But knowing that every service, no matter how small, is training for the heart gives me incredible peace.
With Palm Sunday, we have entered Holy Week. I leave this weekend with a strengthened heart. God is at work, He is calling, and He has great plans ahead!
Thank you for walking this path with me. Your prayers are the tailwind we need for weekends like this.
All my love and a blessed Holy Week,
Nici
