Call to Mission

But it is a Mission (Pope Francis)

"Call to Mission" – When a Call Becomes a Path

Hello dear friends,

After the intense weeks of setup and our first outreach activities in Vienna, we as the EMC team had the opportunity to be hosts this past weekend. We invited people to the "Call to Mission" Weekend.

Networking and Being a Role Model

It was moving to see who responded to the invitation: young people who were feeling for the first time that God might be calling them into full-time mission, as well as experienced missionaries who are already out in the field.

Our role as EMC missionaries this time was not only to learn, but also to be role models and hosts. We were able to share from our (still young) everyday experience, answer questions, and show that yes, it is possible to take this step! The networking among everyone was invaluable—knowing that you have fellow brothers and sisters in arms all across Europe gives incredible strength.

The Foundation: Prayer and Liturgy

A "Call to Mission" does not work without the Source. That is why our weekend was deeply rooted in prayer. Every morning, we started together with Lauds (the Church's morning prayer) and celebrated Holy Mass every day.

In between, there were inspiring talks that challenged us to think beyond our own comfort zone. In the times of silence and prayer, many participants—including myself!—were able to listen closely all over again: "What is my next step?"

Advent Magic in Schönbrunn

To top it all off, we headed to Schönbrunn with some of the participants. Against the magnificent backdrop of the palace, we let the evening wind down at the Christmas market.

Amidst the glowing lights and the scent of punch and roasted almonds, it was the perfect moment to reflect on the deep conversations of the weekend in a completely relaxed atmosphere. It felt good to simply be out and about together as friends and enjoy the anticipation of Christmas. After all, mission also means celebrating life and community!

A Contemplative Moment: Passing On the Flame

It was a weekend of decisions. Seeing how uncertainty turned into clear joy and determination for many participants touched me deeply. It reminds me of why I am here and why your support is so important: so that we don't just grow for ourselves, but create a place where others can discover their calling.

Thank you for making it possible for us to keep fanning this "fire of mission" here at the EMC!

All my love, God's richest blessings, and see you soon,

Your Nici
