Holy Week in Medjugorje

Jesus is Truly Risen!!!
Hallelujah!!!

Up Close to the Mystery of Easter

Hello dear friends,

I am checking in after a journey that led me deep into the heart of our faith. This year, I had the privilege of experiencing Holy Week and the Easter Triduum in a very special place: Medjugorje.

Prayer on the Mountains

It was very important to me to spend these days in prayer. Almost every day, I was drawn to Apparition Hill. Maundy Thursday in particular will stay in my memory, when I held a night vigil up there. In the silence of the night, when Jesus was taken prisoner and nothing was left for us but to watch and pray.

I brought all your prayer requests with me. During every climb up Apparition Hill, as well as on my way up Cross Mountain on Thursday and Good Friday, your intentions were in my heart and in my prayers.

From the Way of the Cross to the Burial

Good Friday was entirely dedicated to the suffering of Christ. Together, we walked the Stations of the Cross up Cross Mountain—a steep path that offers just a small glimpse into Jesus's sacrifice.

A particularly intimate experience was the liturgy of the burial with the Community of the Beatitudes. There were only three of us missionaries present, and we were able to experience this service in a deeply personal and touching atmosphere. It was a powerful contrast to the large liturgies we celebrated with the local parish.

On Holy Saturday, I have the tradition of watching the Passion. Every year, this brings vividly to mind what Christ, who was without sin, suffered for me. This year, God brought the suffering of our dear Mother Mary especially close to my heart. She helps me more and more to gain deeper access to her Son. Thank you, Mama Mary!

Peace Amidst the Crowd

What always impresses me most about Medjugorje is the deep peace. Even though thousands of people from all over the world were there, an incredible calm prevailed. It is not an external silence, but an inner peace that you can almost touch in this place.

I am infinitely grateful that I was able to spend this week so intensively in prayer, celebrating the suffering and ultimately the glorious resurrection of Jesus.

Easter: A Celebration of Community

After the solemn Easter Vigil, we celebrated the joy of the Resurrection in our EMC community with an Easter agape. Sharing the food and the joy together was the perfect conclusion to this holy time.

Jesus is alive! And He grants us His peace!

All my love and a continued blessed Easter season,

Christ is risen!

Hallelujah!!!
