Between Waltz & Networking
An evening where you can experience the beauty of creation.
Our Evening at the Rochus Ball
Hello dear friends,
Mission also means being present where people gather to celebrate! Recently, we swapped our hiking boots and everyday clothes for formal evening wear to attend the Rochus Ball, hosted by the parish of St. Rochus here in Vienna.
Immersing Ourselves in Austrian Culture
A ball belongs to Vienna just like St. Stephen's Cathedral, and for us as missionaries, it was a fantastic opportunity to experience Austrian culture at its finest. There was plenty of laughter, dancing, and we tried our best to cut a fine figure while waltzing. It is important for us not only to know the traditions of the country where we serve, but to experience and appreciate them firsthand.
Mission While Dancing:
Networking
But we were not just there for pleasure. Events like this are worth their weight in gold for our networking efforts. In a relaxed atmosphere, we were able to make many new contacts with the St. Rochus parish, talk about our work with EMC, and hear what moves people in their daily life of faith. Mission often happens in casual conversations on the sidelines of the dance floor—where you meet people at eye level and build bridges.
A Contemplative Retrospective
This evening reminded me that God is present in joy and celebration as well. Experiencing the community of a vibrant parish like St. Rochus gives us a strong tailwind for our upcoming tasks.
Thank you for supporting me so that I can take root here in Vienna and be a part of this wonderful community!
All my love and God's blessings,
Nici
